First Southern Securities, LLC receives FINRA membership and commences business operations

First Southern Securities (“FSS”), a broker dealer headquartered in Alpharetta, GA that will focus on municipal bond sales and trading, today commenced its business operations.

FSS’s founders are W. Heath Hawk and Vasileios Sfyris. Mr. Hawk who will serve as FSS’s President & CEO has over sixteen years of experience in municipal bond sales and trading. Mr. Hawk from 2002 to 2009 was the branch manager for Bergen Capital, a division of Scott & Stringfellow, a BB&T Corporation affiliate (“Bergen”) and was responsible for managing the trading desk, public finance, and institutional and retail sales force for the branch. “We are excited about creating a municipal bond focused platform dedicated to the needs of the retail and institutional investor alike” commented Mr. Hawk. In addition to Mr. Hawk, FSS’ co-founder Vasileios Sfyris brings eleven years experience in municipal bond sales and trading and he previously worked with Mr. Hawk at Bergen.
